DeepOcean's T1 Evolution

DeepOcean worked in collaboration with Newcastle based Osbit Power Limited to develop and deliver the project.

Upgrades include changing from 2-pole to 4-pole motors for increased reliability and incorporating cooling fans to allow T1 to operate onshore, whilst retaining its subsea capability. The system’s power has been increased from 260kW to 520kW with changes made to the cutting wheel motor to accommodate the additional power.

Onshore trials were successfully conducted in Blyth UK, where T1 trenched in 20MPa, 30MPa and 40MPa concrete. Trench depths to 1.2m were achieved.
